The Radio Philharmonic Chorus, established in 1984, was founded by Mr. Hu Zeng-rong, a renowned conductor in China. It is an amateur choir with members selected from a wide range of occupations and professionals. Under the demanding and scientific tutelage of Mr. Hu, the choir reaches a professional standard with a harmonious, rich and enthusiastic character. Since its formation, the choir has been invited for performances in many major festivals and events, including China Arts Festivals, Asian Games Closing Ceremony. It won prizes in the Beijing Festival of Voice, and Beijing International Choral Festival. Its overseas performances in Asian Choral Music Festival in Fukuoka (Japan), International Choral Festival in Fano (Italy) , the Festival International de Chant Chorl in Nancy (France) were very well received by the audiences. The choir has accumulated a broad range of showpieces. It has contributed with over several hundred recordings for broadcasting in radio and television channels. Hong Kong ROI production company has published 3 CDs "The Flowers and the Youths", "The Butterfly Lovers Chorus", "Ode to the Motherland" for the choir. "The Butterfly Lovers Chorus", arranged by Mr. Wu and his wife Madam Wang Lin-ling (the late choir leader), was well received in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, USA and Canada.
In the summer of 2001, the choir got into difficulties when Mr. Hu was suffered from unilateral paralysis. Even though, the choir members still insisted in regular rehearsals. Recently, Mr. Liu De-yu, a renowned conductor, was invited to take the lead of the choir. Under the support of the China Broadcasting Art Organization and the direction of Mr. Liu, the choir still maintains the high professional standard.
中國廣播之友合唱團 誕生在1984年，由中國著名合唱指揮家胡增榮先生所組建，他的成員來自首都北京各行各業。20年來，合唱團在胡增榮先生熱情嚴謹的訓練下，藝術上不斷進步，技巧上日漸成熟，結出碩果累累，成為海內外知名的優秀合唱團體。團結奮進的良好團風，孕育出和諧豐滿的歌聲。多年來，合唱團參加了中國國家藝術節、亞運會等許多國家級的重大活動，連續在北京合唱節、北京國際合唱節等賽事中摘金奪銀，而且應邀遠赴海外，代表國家參加日本福岡國際合唱節、意大利法諾國際合唱節、法國南錫國際合唱節等，為國爭得殊榮。多年來，合唱團積累了大量的中外曲目，為中央人民廣播電台，中央電視台等錄制了大量合唱作品和文獻資料；香港龍音公司正為廣播之友合唱團出版了《花兒與少年》、《梁山伯與祝英台》和《祖國頌》等三張CD專集；胡增榮先生和夫人王連玲（合唱團原團長，已故）合作的大型合唱《梁山伯與祝英台》不僅在國內膾炙人口，而且在祖國的香港、台灣以及美國、加拿大等地都在傳唱演出。
2001年夏，胡增榮先生突患半身不遂而臥病，合唱團遇到暫時困難；但全体團員依然凝聚一堂堅持排練，共度難關。近期，我國著名合唱指揮家劉德裕先生已經應邀執棒廣播之友合唱團。合唱團將繼續堅持高標准、嚴要求的風格，在中國廣播藝術團領導的關心指揮下，在劉德裕先生的訓練指揮下。不斷進步和發展。
